Moriah Central School carries insurance on all students. However, the policies offered are scheduled policies – they pay according to a schedule after the family’s insurance has been billed.
When a pupil is injured during a school day or while participating in school activities/sports, the pupil will report the injury to the coach, supervisor, or bus driver in charge. An accident report is to be filed with the school nurse within 24 hours in order to be considered by the school insurance carrier.
Parents/Guardians are to supply the hospital/physician with their own family insurance information for the initial coverage. Medical bills should be sent to the parent, not to the school. The parent is responisble for the payment of bills by the insurance companies. After insurance payment or denial statements have been received by the parents, the school’s insurance claims will be filed.
Claim forms can be obtained from the Health Office.
Any remaining costs not covered by the family or school insurance companies will be the responsibility of the pupil’s parents.
